Every individual has a right to basic needs: housing, food, healthcare, and belonging.
Every individual has gifts to share that contribute to a healthy, vibrant community.
But despite these fundamental truths, many young adults in our community face acute challenges meeting basic needs. Barriers to shelter, nutrition, childcare, transportation, training, health, education, and employment keep our youth from directing their own path through life. They can find themselves trapped in lives that are determined more by circumstances than by abilities or ambitions.
That’s why Community Cares Youth Outreach (CCYO) works with underserved youth, delivering programs focused on helping young people and young families overcome adversity, build personal strengths, and lead self-determined lives.
We envision a thriving community that cares deeply about all youth and young families.
In this community, young people are hopeful. They feel a strong sense of belonging and self-determination. As valued citizens, they feel worthy of a good life; one that provides more than basic needs; and they seek out opportunities to participate, innovate, and “pay it forward” in support of others in their community. It is a community that attracts people and investments. It is a community of which we are proud.
To build this vision, Community CARES meets young people where they are now, supporting them as they refocus their lives into where they wish to be, and as they work to reclaim their futures.
We strive to provide the space, resources, and supportive environment where youth can gain the life/work skills and experience needed to support themselves and their families, participate in the community, and realize their potential.
Community CARES Youth Outreach works via:
